2012 Toyota Prius V Three – Runs Only With Scan Tool Connected
CUSTOMER CONCERN After engine installation, the engine runs only while a scan tool is connected and DTCs P0032, C1259, C1310, and U0100 are present. CAUSE The D1 engine-control-module ground at the valve cover was loose, interrupting the ECM ground path. CORRECTION Tighten and secure the D1 ECM ground connection at the valve cover.
2013 Toyota Prius V Five – No Electrical Power After 12-Volt Battery Replacement
CUSTOMER CONCERN After a 12-volt battery was installed and several fuses opened, the vehicle has no electrical power even after the smaller fuses were replaced. CAUSE The 140-amp main fuse in the fusible-link box at the 12-volt battery was open. CORRECTION Remove and replace the open 140-amp main fuse.
2013 Toyota Prius V – C1231 After Steering Repairs
CUSTOMER CONCERN DTC C1231 repeatedly returns after curb-impact steering and suspension repairs, even after steering-angle calibration. CAUSE The confirmed repair identified a failed steering-angle sensor after power, ground, CAN communication, and calibration checks. CORRECTION Remove and replace the failed steering-angle sensor and perform the supported steering/yaw-rate calibration.
2014 Toyota Prius Three – Wipers Slow on Low Speed
CUSTOMER CONCERN The windshield wipers operate normally on high speed but move extremely slowly on low speed; replacing the wiper switch did not change the symptom. CAUSE The low-speed circuit remained powered, but the confirmed repair identified an internally failed front wiper motor. CORRECTION Remove and replace the failed front wiper motor.
2015 Toyota Prius C – Steering Angle Sensor Code C1231
CUSTOMER CONCERN DTC C1231 returns immediately after clearing for a steering-angle-sensor fault. CAUSE The steering angle sensor failed after its battery feeds, ground, and CAN circuits were identified as the required checks. CORRECTION Remove and replace the failed steering angle sensor, perform the required steering-angle calibration, clear DTC C1231, and verify the code does not return.
2010 Toyota Prius – Brake Codes After Caliper and Hose Replacement
CUSTOMER CONCERN After rear caliper and hose replacement, the brake system stores DTCs C1203, C1345, and C1451. CAUSE The brake hydraulic system was not fully bled, preventing the linear-solenoid valve offset calibration from completing. CORRECTION Perform the complete scan-tool brake bleeding procedure, clear DTCs C1203, C1345, and C1451, perform the linear-solenoid valve offset calibration on level ground with skid-control voltage near 13 volts, and verify normal brake oper

CUSTOMER CONCERN The ECM stores EVAP DTCs P043E, P043F, P2401, P2402, P2419, and P0456 at the same time. CAUSE The leak-detection pump in the evaporative-emissions system failed. CORRECTION Remove and replace the failed leak-detection pump, clear the EVAP DTCs, and verify the EVAP monitor completes without resetting P043E, P043F, P2401, P2402, P2419, or P0456.
2013 Toyota Highlander Hybrid – Cooling Fans Run With Ignition Off and C1378
CUSTOMER CONCERN The cooling fans continue running with the ignition off and DTC C1378 is stored. CAUSE Corrosion at the brake-control power-supply connector backfed voltage through the A/C No. 2 fuse circuit and kept the fan relays energized. CORRECTION Repair the corroded brake-control power-supply connector and terminals, clear DTC C1378, and verify the cooling fans shut off normally with the ignition off.
2013 Toyota Prius Two – No Start After Maintenance Reminder Reset
CUSTOMER CONCERN After an oil change and repeated maintenance-reminder reset attempts, the vehicle will not start although the combination meter and brake lamps operate. CAUSE The 12-volt battery became too weak to power the hybrid control system during the extended reset attempt. CORRECTION Remove and replace the weak 12-volt battery and verify normal READY mode and vehicle startup.
2013 Toyota Highlander Hybrid Limited – Low-Speed Brake Clunk and Shudder
CUSTOMER CONCERN A clunk and shudder comes from the right-front wheel during low-speed braking just before the vehicle stops. CAUSE The front brake pads caused the vibration; moving the pads side to side changed the symptom and isolated it to the base brake system. CORRECTION Remove and replace the front brake pads and verify smooth, noise-free braking during repeated low-speed stops.
