2009 Toyota Prius Touring – ABS Warning Light With C1252, C1256 and C1391
CUSTOMER CONCERN ABS warning light is on with DTCs C1252, C1256 and C1391. CAUSE Accumulator-pressure testing confirmed an internal failure of the ABS brake actuator. CORRECTION Remove and replace the failed ABS brake actuator. Perform the required brake-system bleed procedure.
2009 Toyota Prius – Instrument Display Blank and Vehicle Will Not Shut Off
CUSTOMER CONCERN Instrument display is blank and the vehicle will not shut off normally. CAUSE DTC C2318 was stored, and diagnosis confirmed an internal combination-meter failure. CORRECTION Remove and replace the failed combination meter.
2009 Toyota Prius – No READY After Brake Service
CUSTOMER CONCERN Vehicle will not enter READY mode after brake service. CAUSE The high-voltage battery service plug was not fully secured, leaving the service-plug interlock circuit open. CORRECTION Correctly install and secure the high-voltage battery service plug.
2009 Toyota Prius – No Cabin Heat With P1116, P1121 and P1122
CUSTOMER CONCERN Cabin heater does not produce warm air, and DTCs P1116, P1121 and P1122 are stored. CAUSE Testing confirmed the coolant flow-control valve failed to route coolant correctly. CORRECTION Remove and replace the failed coolant flow-control valve. Refill and bleed the cooling system.
2009 Toyota Highlander Hybrid Limited – Loud Engine Noise and Stalling With Timing Codes
CUSTOMER CONCERN The engine developed a loud noise, stalled, and will only run briefly. DTCs P0016, P0018, P3190, P3191, P3193, and P0A0F are stored. CAUSE Camshaft-correlation and mechanical timing inspection confirmed incorrect camshaft timing caused by the timing-belt drive. CORRECTION Remove and replace the timing belt and restore the crankshaft-to-camshaft timing alignment.
2009 Toyota Highlander Hybrid Limited – Check Engine Light With P0420
CUSTOMER CONCERN The check engine light is on with catalyst-efficiency DTC P0420 after induction-system service. CAUSE Fuel-control, oxygen-sensor, and converter testing confirmed that the catalytic converter was no longer operating efficiently. CORRECTION Remove and replace the failed catalytic converter.
2009 Toyota Highlander Hybrid – No Start With P0A78
CUSTOMER CONCERN The vehicle stalled after driving, will not restart or enter READY mode, and displays Service Hybrid System and VSC warnings with DTC P0A78 stored. CAUSE Hybrid-system testing and the applicable service bulletin confirmed an internal power-inverter failure. CORRECTION Remove and replace the hybrid power inverter assembly.
2008 Toyota Highlander Hybrid Limited – Airbag Light With B1650 and B1794
CUSTOMER CONCERN The airbag warning light is on with DTCs B1650 and B1794 stored. CAUSE Power and circuit testing at the occupant-classification ECU confirmed a failed connection at the DN3 junction connector. CORRECTION Repair the terminals and connections at the DN3 junction connector.
2009 Toyota Highlander Hybrid Limited – Engine Knock and Misfire Codes
CUSTOMER CONCERN The engine runs poorly with a knocking noise, inverter-coolant gurgling, and DTCs P0302, P0304, and P3221 stored. CAUSE Cylinder contribution and component-swap testing confirmed failed ignition coils causing the cylinder misfires. CORRECTION Remove and replace the failed ignition coils.
2008 Toyota Highlander Hybrid – Backup Camera Screen Is Blank
CUSTOMER CONCERN The display switches to the reverse-camera screen, but no camera image appears. Replacing the camera did not correct the concern. CAUSE Voltage and continuity testing confirmed damaged backup-camera wiring in the tailgate circuit. CORRECTION Repair the backup-camera wiring in the tailgate circuit.
