2008 Lexus RX400h – Overheats and Heater Blows Cold
CUSTOMER CONCERN Customer states the engine overheats while driving and the heater blows cold. Coolant temperature reaches approximately 230°F with the cooling fans operating. CAUSE Cooling-system bleeding and flow checks confirmed combustion leakage from a failed cylinder-head gasket. CORRECTION Remove and replace failed cylinder-head gasket. Refill and bleed engine cooling system and verify normal operating temperature.
2008 Lexus LS600h L – Air Conditioning Inoperative With B1419
CUSTOMER CONCERN Customer states the air conditioning will not operate. DTCs B1419, B1421, B1424 and B1428 are stored. CAUSE The solar-sensor codes did not inhibit operation; circuit testing for B1419 confirmed a faulty connection at the rear junction-block ECU connector in the left rear trunk area. CORRECTION Repair rear junction-block ECU connector and terminal fit. Clear HVAC DTCs and verify air-conditioning operation.
2008 Lexus LS600h L – Brake Warning Lights With C1253
CUSTOMER CONCERN Customer states the ABS, traction-control and brake warning lights remain on after brake-booster pump replacement and bleeding. DTC C1253 is stored. CAUSE The ABS MTR1 fusible link and pump feed circuit tested correctly, isolating the fault to Engine Room Relay Block 2/Engine Room Junction Block 2. CORRECTION Remove and replace Engine Room Relay Block 2/Engine Room Junction Block 2. Clear brake-system DTCs and verify booster-pump operation.
2007 Lexus GS450h – No ECM Communication With U0100-211
CUSTOMER CONCERN Customer states the check-engine light does not illuminate and the scan tool cannot communicate with the ECM. DTCs U0100-211, U0100-530 and U0100-784 are stored in the hybrid ECU. CAUSE Isolating ECM connector E83 terminal 125 restored the 5-volt VC circuit, confirming the fuel-pressure sensor was pulling down the reference circuit. 2008 Lexus GS450h – Engine Will Not Idle After Codes Cleared
CUSTOMER CONCERN Customer states the engine will not idle after diagnostic codes were cleared. CAUSE Clearing adaptive memory exposed throttle-plate deposits and removed the learned idle correction values. CORRECTION Remove EFI and ETCS fuses for the specified reset period, clean throttle body and perform throttle-body idle relearn. Verify stable idle operation.
2008 Honda Civic Hybrid – IMA Light With P0A7F P1570 P1435
CUSTOMER CONCERN Customer states the IMA and check-engine lights are on. DTCs P0A7F, P1570 and P1435 are stored. CAUSE Battery-module testing and Honda TSB 09-025 confirmed deterioration inside the high-voltage IMA battery pack. CORRECTION Remove and replace high-voltage IMA battery pack. Reflash applicable IMA control software and clear DTCs.
2008 Honda Civic Hybrid – Battery Light and No Charging With P0A94
CUSTOMER CONCERN Customer states the battery warning light is on and the 12-volt charging system is inoperative. DTC P0A94 is stored. CAUSE Battery cables between the DC-DC converter and 12-volt battery were clean and tight, confirming an internal DC-DC converter failure. CORRECTION Remove and replace DC-DC converter. Clear DTC P0A94 and verify 12-volt charging operation.
2008 GMC Yukon Hybrid – Low Power With P061B and P0AC4
CUSTOMER CONCERN Customer states the vehicle has low power. DTCs P061B and P0AC4 are stored. CAUSE Hybrid-system DTC and battery-pack testing confirmed deterioration inside the high-voltage hybrid battery pack. CORRECTION Remove and replace high-voltage hybrid battery pack. Perform required module setup and clear hybrid-system DTCs.
2008 GMC Yukon Hybrid – Engine Stalls at Stops With Communication Loss
CUSTOMER CONCERN Customer states the engine stalls at stops instead of completing a normal Auto Stop. Multiple ECM, HPCM and TCM communication DTCs are stored. CAUSE Inspection following bulletin 08-07-30-021H confirmed chafed high-speed CAN wiring causing intermittent module communication loss. CORRECTION Repair chafed high-speed CAN wiring and protect harness from repeat contact. Clear communication DTCs and verify normal Auto Stop operation.
2008 GMC Yukon Hybrid – Engine Stalls During Auto Start With P0BBD
CUSTOMER CONCERN Customer states the engine intermittently stalls during Auto Start, often will not restart and displays Service Hybrid System. DTC P0BBD is stored. CAUSE Battery-module voltage testing and the applicable battery service bulletin confirmed an internal hybrid battery-pack failure. CORRECTION Remove and replace hybrid battery-pack assembly. Perform sequential EBCM, HCP, ECM, TCM and BECM programming, clear DTCs and verify Auto Start operation.
