2008 Ford Escape Hybrid – Ignition Key Hard to Turn and No Start

CUSTOMER CONCERN

Customer states the ignition key intermittently becomes difficult to turn into the start position, even after the lock cylinder and ignition switch were replaced.

CAUSE

Inspection under TSB 09-19-15 confirmed the steering-column lock module housing was binding the ignition mechanism.

CORRECTION

Remove and replace steering-column lock module. Verify smooth key rotation and normal starting operation.
