2014 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid – Stop Safely Warning With P1B70 and P1B96

CUSTOMER CONCERN

Hybrid System Warning instructs the driver to stop safely, the READY lamp flashes, and DTCs P1B70 and P1B96 reset immediately after clearing.

CAUSE

High-voltage battery cell-voltage imbalance confirmed a failed battery; a cell below 1.5 volts sets P1B70 and a spread greater than 1 volt sets P1B96.

CORRECTION

Remove and replace the high-voltage battery, clear DTCs P1B70 and P1B96, and verify balanced cell voltages and normal READY operation.
