2018 Toyota Prius Three – No Start and No Scan-Tool Communication

CUSTOMER CONCERN

The vehicle will not start, ignition power is present, and the scan tool cannot communicate with any control module.

CAUSE

Spread terminals in the data link connector prevented reliable contact with the scan-tool connector. DLC terminal 16 had battery voltage and terminals 4 and 5 had good grounds.

CORRECTION

Repair the spread data link connector terminals and verify the scan tool communicates with the vehicle modules and the vehicle starts normally.
