CUSTOMER CONCERN The vehicle will not start, ignition power is present, and the scan tool cannot communicate with any control module. CAUSE Spread terminals in the data link connector prevented reliable contact with the scan-tool connector. DLC terminal 16 had battery voltage and terminals 4 and 5 had good grounds. CORRECTION Repair the spread data link connector terminals and verify the scan tool communicates with the vehicle modules and the vehicle starts normally.

CUSTOMER CONCERN The instrument cluster, radio, and HVAC controls are inoperative, the scan tool cannot communicate with those modules, and DTCs U0155 and U0422 are stored. CAUSE The medium-speed CAN wiring leading to the HVAC module was damaged, interrupting communication with the affected modules. CORRECTION Repair the damaged medium-speed CAN circuits to the HVAC module, clear DTCs U0155 and U0422, and verify cluster, radio, HVAC, and scan-tool communication operation.
