2014 Toyota Prius Four – Check Engine Light With P2420

CUSTOMER CONCERN

Check-engine light is on with EVAP vent-control DTC P2420.

CAUSE

Circuit testing confirmed the EVAP vent solenoid inside the canister pump module was faulty; the pink terminal-1 feed had battery voltage from the 10-amp EFI2 fuse and the black control circuit switched to ground when commanded.

CORRECTION

Remove and replace the EVAP canister pump module, clear DTC P2420, and verify the vent solenoid responds to scan-tool commands and the EVAP monitor completes.
