2014 Toyota Prius C Four – No READY Mode and Inoperative Door Locks With U0142

CUSTOMER CONCERN

The vehicle will not enter READY mode, DTC U0142 is stored, the dash lamps dim when the brake pedal is pressed, and the remote door locks do not operate.

CAUSE

The 12-volt auxiliary battery was weak; applying external 12-volt support restored the door locks and allowed the vehicle to enter READY mode.

CORRECTION

Remove and replace the weak 12-volt auxiliary battery, clear DTC U0142, and verify READY-mode engagement, stable dash illumination, and remote door-lock operation.
