CUSTOMER CONCERN

Engine intermittently will not start, the 12-volt battery appears discharged, and DTC P0685 is stored.

CAUSE

The automatic transmission was confirmed as the failed assembly after power, ground, PGM-FI relay, 5-volt reference, and charging-system checks.

CORRECTION

Remove and replace the automatic transmission, clear DTC P0685, and verify reliable engine starting and charging-system operation.
