CUSTOMER CONCERN

DTC P0012 sets after cylinder-head-gasket replacement.

CAUSE

The intake variable-valve-timing cam phaser was inadvertently locked during installation, preventing normal commanded camshaft advance and retard.

CORRECTION

Remove and replace the locked intake VVT gear/cam phaser, set camshaft timing correctly, clear DTC P0012, and verify the engine responds normally to the VVT active test.
