2012 Honda Civic Hybrid – Engine Will Not Crank Forward

CUSTOMER CONCERN

The engine will not crank forward and can only be rotated backward by hand.

CAUSE

Removing the serpentine belt freed the engine, and inspection confirmed the A/C compressor clutch was seized.

CORRECTION

Remove and replace the A/C compressor assembly, reinstall the serpentine belt, and verify normal engine cranking and starting operation.
