2011 Honda CR-Z – IMA Motor Will Not Restart Engine With P1586

CUSTOMER CONCERN

The IMA warning light is on with DTC P1586. The engine shuts off during auto stop but will not restart with the IMA motor; the conventional starter still cranks and starts the engine.

CAUSE

Inspection confirmed the IMA motor-stator bolts had backed out, allowing the stator to bind against the rotor magnet.

CORRECTION

Remove the transaxle and replace the damaged IMA motor stator, then verify IMA cranking and auto-stop restart operation.
