2009 Honda Civic Hybrid – No Hybrid Assist With U0037

CUSTOMER CONCERN

The engine starts on the 12-volt starter, but the hybrid system does not operate. DTCs U1205 and U0037 are stored.

CAUSE

CAN-network testing confirmed an internal Motor Control Module failure. Module communication was intermittent, and scan-tool parameter data was incomplete when communication was available.

CORRECTION

Remove and replace the Motor Control Module, program the replacement module, and verify hybrid-system operation.
