CUSTOMER CONCERN

Customer states the hybrid battery intermittently goes dead while driving. DTCs P0AFB, U0111 and U1897 are stored.

CAUSE

Power, ground and data-circuit checks isolated lost communication and high-voltage reporting faults to an internally failed Battery Energy Control Module.

CORRECTION

Remove and replace Battery Energy Control Module. Program and configure replacement module with the correct calibration, clear DTCs and verify hybrid-battery communication.
