2013 Toyota Highlander Hybrid – Brake Accumulator Pump Inoperative With C1256

CUSTOMER CONCERN

The brake warning lamps are on, DTC C1256 is stored, and the brake accumulator pump does not run.

CAUSE

Battery power on the large green and white/red circuits and ground on the large white/black circuit were verified, confirming an internal failure of the brake actuator assembly.

CORRECTION

Remove and replace the failed brake actuator assembly, perform the required brake-system bleed and calibration procedures, clear DTC C1256, and verify normal accumulator-pump and brake-system operation.
